The Common Criteria Vendors’ Forum was created as an outcome of the CC Users’ Forums held on October 6-7, 2004 and July 14, 2005 in Washington, D.C. These Forums included presentations and panel sessions with members of Government and Industry. There were several breakout sessions and workshops to address specific topics. The CC Vendors’ Forum was formed to address commercial product vendors’ issues.
ABOUT THE COMMON CRITERIA VENDOR’S FORUM
The Common Criteria Vendors Forum (CCVF) is composed of representatives from commercial product vendors engaged in obtaining Common Criteria certification of their products. CCVF participants meet, discuss, and take action to influence the Common Criteria standards, policies, and processes, especially in relation to the shared concerns of product vendors. It is an international organization, open to product vendors who develop, certify, and sell their products in any country.
OUR MISSION AND OBJECTIVES
Our mission is to provide a unified voice of the vendor community to the Common Criteria standards bodies and policy makers, national schemes, evaluation labs, and customers. In doing so, our objective is to participate in the improvement of the Common Criteria, particularly in these areas:
- Reducing the time, effort, and cost required to complete Common Criteria evaluations
- Creating useful, realistic, internationally-recognized PROTECTION PROFILES
- Establishing viable policies and processes for maintaining certification through product updates
- Establishing viable policies and processes for certifying systems that are composed of certified parts
- Supporting and fostering the goal of worldwide MUTUAL RECOGNITION
- Provide technical leadership for focused TECHNICAL WORKING GROUPS
HOW WE OPERATE
The CCVF holds 2 face-to-face meetings and several conference calls throughout the year. Meetings are held at the annual ICCC Conference and the RSA Security Conference in San Francisco. A subscription mailing list and teleconferences are used throughout the year to keep members informed of updates and activities between meetings.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
CCVF members are industry leaders who help determine business decisions for their respective companies. We represent all product and technology types. Members have provided industry leadership into the following Technical Communities;
- The Hardcopy Device Protection Profile led by product vendors
- The Operating Systems Protection Profile (OSPP) led by Atsec
